Starting off, let’s take a look at the main features of the phone.

Processor:

The Lumia 920 comes with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The 1.5GHz Dual Core processor guarantees high performance and superior functionalities. Battery:

The phone is attached with a non-removable, 2000mha lithium ion battery. On battery backup, on standby, is about 48 hours. On an average, the phone’s battery gives it a life of 8-10 hours.

The Lumia 920’s battery backup has been talked about a lot. Nokia has been quite impressive in augmenting the 920’s battery backup even though the phone’s functionalities and features are much higher as against the previous Lumia versions.

Body and Hardware:

For Nokia lovers and all those who’ve been fascinated by the design features of the previous Lumia models, the Lumia 920 would certainly be a treat to the eyes. The phone is embedded with the floating lens technology, an attribute that gives it a slight bulkiness. But with the perfect screen size, the phone’s weight and external design certainly fit the buck.

And just in case you’re using a laptop, you can even access the Hopper™ from your browser, using the dishanywhere.com website. With this level of inter-connectivity, it’s pretty easy to convert practically any mobile device into a portable TV.

Another feature that’s a boon for consumers and a bane for TV networks is AutoHop. AutoHop lets you skip the commercials in the PrimeTime recordings you make. Only the first few and last few seconds of the entire commercials segment during breaks are recorded, noticeably reducing your frustration, while increasing that of the advertisers. For those of you who hate long, windy commercials as much as we do, this feature makes the Hopper a very attractive package.

Simply too Powerful – First Impression

On the face of technical specification so far available, it is obvious that LG Optimus G Pro has too much of power packed into it, though nobody can tell what for. At 5 inch, the Pro is simply a superb machine with an astounding screen resolution of 1920 x 1080, making it one of the best in its class. That means, prospective buyers can plug it into their HD television and use it for streaming HD videos straight way, and all that they may need is a cable to connect.

The Camera is something to watch for. The 13 megapixel could as well be used for shooting professional quality pictures if it that is ultimately delivered in the G Pro. Whether it will sport a camera in the front though is not clear from the images circulating in the internet. Little however is known about the video capabilities or the fps of the recording system. But considering that the LG Optimus G Pro will be running on 1.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon Processor, there is every chance that video recording will be of the highest quality.

The other specifications, 2 GB RAM and the built in 32 GB memory which can further be expanded to 2 TB are equally superb. The fact that Android Jelly Bean is the OS and will support 4G LTE adds some additional punch. The 3000 mAH battery should see the device running well, but whether it is enough we will know only when it is used.

Market Sentiments

Though on the face of what appears and with little authentic information and no one having reportedly tried the device on hand, market watchers generally feel that yet another smartphone with so much power in it is too much in an already crowded market. Yet another segment of watchers feel that there is still enough space for new models. But, the final outcome will be apparent only when the product finally hits the market globally.

Threat to Apple

Yet another angle to the G Pro is the stiff competition it may pose to Apple’s similarly placed products. It may be noted that Apple has been filing suits in courts complaining that many smartphones are copies of its invention. However, that does not seem to be making much impact upon new manufacturers and existing ones entering the highly competitive market for smartphone. With so much awesome features, it is widely held, that the G Pro will be a big hit in western markets, and possibly eat into traditional Apple’s fortress, unless Apple is able to pull a couple of tricks with something better. As of now, prospective buyers are in a wait and watch mood to see which way things will be moving.

Micromax unveiled the A110 Canvas 2 Superfone in October 2012. The phone has set new standards in the budget phone market. Priced at just above 9500 as on February 2013, the phone comes with incredibly gratifying features for its price range. Let’s examine the phone’s features in detail.

First off is the screen. One of the most talked about element of the Canvas 2 is the screen. The phone comes with a stunning 5 inch screen, the first of its kind from Micromax. The phone is the enhanced version of the A100, the phone that previously allowed Micromax to make its mark in the budget phone market. The phone comes with a 262k colour display, capacitive tough screen. The phone is embedded with an IPS panel that brags a resolution of 480x854ps. A lot has been talked about the screen resolution with many critics describing the resolution to be very low with relevance to the screen size. But the display appears to be sharp, the touch is superb and the viewing angles are amazing. The phone’s display does rank low on visibility under the sun, but overall, considering the price, perfect!

Next up is the processor. The processor is a significant improvement from the older Canvas A100. The A110 comes with a dual core processor and 512 MB of RAM memory. As with the memory, the phone is embedded with an internal memory of 4GB and expandable up to 32GB.

The Canvas A110 is powered with an 8 mega-pixel camera on the rear and a 0.3 mega pixel camera in the front. This is one area where the phone hasn’t met expected standards. Though the phone is equipped with an 8 mega-pixel camera, the camera ranks low on colour and focus. Captured videos are low on quality and pictures taken in the absence of light or in the presence of low light appear unclear.  The camera is equipped with a dual LED flash and is well structured to capture photos from close range in the presence of light.

Coming to the interface, the Canvas A110 runs on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. The phone is fitted with a 2000mha amp battery that lasts about 8 hours on standby.On the whole, an amazing phone for its price.

Cox’s new mobile app was revealed at 2012 Consumer Electronics Show by Cox President Pat Esser. “We are delivering a viewing experience that is more personal by putting customers in command of the content they most enjoy”, said Esser at a press conference.

At the presentation, Esser was joined by Cisco Chairman and CEO John Chambers, to demonstrate the new personalized video experience which simply put, has been created to make video recommendations to the viewers based on their personal viewing habits. The new mobile application that Cox design engineers have developed features 90 live TV channels, access to On Demand content, TV and tablet integration and of course, personalized video content recommendations that is powered by Trio. In November 2012, Cox introduced its customers enhanced Trio Program Guide that offered personal video recommendations (up to eight personalized suggestions in a household), option to influence the recommendations and teach the system (by using the “Like”, “dislike,” or “suspend” options), faster and easier TV listing navigation and the feature to Pause live TV from any TV in the Whole Home DVR network.

But now this all is available also using your tablet or mobile devices.

“Video in the past has been focused in the living room, a shared experience, and what we have really found out over the past several years is that video has extended to be more of a personalized experience”, said Len Barlik, EVP Chief Product Officer at Cox Communications.

Advent is about recollecting the aspirations of ancient people and recognizing how the promises of the Old Testament were fulfilled by God by sending his only son to this world.  During this season Christians thank God for Christ’s birth in Bethlehem.  They also thank him for Christ’s continued presence in the Holy Sacrament.  Above all, they look forward to his second arrival at the end of time.

Christians started observing Advent, after the 4^th century, as a preparation for Epiphany, a feast celebrating the revelation of the divine nature of Jesus.  At that time new Christians were received into the faith and hence, the church introduced a period of fasting and repentance.

Later, in the 6^th century, the season of Advent was linked to the second coming of Christ.  Subsequently, Christmas was also integrated into this season.

However, December month is exclusively reserved for the preparation of Christmas parties and colourful celebrations.  No wonder, people easily forget the true spirit of Advent, and concentrate totally on approaching Christmas and all festivities associated with it.

Proposed scheme of arrangement between Wipro Ltd., Azim Premji Custodial Services Pvt. Ltd., and Wipro Trademarks Holding Ltd. will benefit Wipro Ltd. shareholders.

Azim Premji Custodial Services Pvt. Ltd. is in the process of becoming a Public Limited Company after changing its name to Wipro Enterprises Ltd.

Wipro Ltd. is engaged in the business of providing IT enabled Services, apart from dealing in consumer care products and other activities.

The proposed scheme will make Wipro Ltd. entirety a IT Company, after transferring rest of the Diversified Business to Wipro Enterprises Ltd.

Simultaneously, the usage of rights of Intellectual property owned by Wipro Trademarks Holding Ltd. will be passed on to Wipro Ltd. and Wipro Enterprises Ltd., as appropriate.

As per the Demerger plan, on the record date (yet to be decided), Wipro Enterprises Ltd. will allot shares to Wipro Ltd. shareholders as outlined below:-

1)   One fully paid-up Equity Share of Rs.10/- of Wipro Enterprises Ltd., for every five shares of Wipro Ltd.

Subsequently, as per the exchange offer, the shareholder will get one share of Wipro Ltd., for every 1.65 shares of  Wipro Enterprises Ltd.

OR

2)   One fully paid-up 7% Redeemable Preferential Share of Rs.50/- of the Wipro Enterprises Ltd., for every five shares of Wipro Ltd.

The Preferential Share will be redeemable at Rs.235.20, after 12 months from the date of allotment, apart from that it will earn 7% dividend on the face value.

In case of non-resident share-holder, the share exchange will be subject to the approval of the concerned authorities.

After the record date, Wipro Ltd. will send Election and Exchange Notice to each shareholder to enable him to select and intimate his choice to the Company.

If a shareholder fails to return the completed Election and Exchange Notice prior to the specified date, the default option will come into play.  As per the default option, applicable Equity Shares of Wipro Enterprises Ltd. will be allotted to the shareholder, and subsequently, exchanged these shares for Wipro Ltd. Shares (one share of Wipro Ltd. for every 1.65 shares of Wipro Enterprises Ltd.)

Interestingly, Equity Shares and Redeemable Preferential Shares of Wipro Enterprises Ltd. will not be listed in any stock exchange.

While the bill would help both private and public sector banks to acquire more foreign investments, it also sanctions wide-ranging powers to RBI to monitor private banks.

The major companies like L&T Finance Holdings, Mahindra Finance, Tatas, Aditya Birla Group, Bajaj Group, Reliance Capital, Religare, Shriram Group, LIC Housing and SREI are the frontrunners to grab this unique opportunity.

As expected, stock prices of most of these companies are on upward trend.  But, is it the right time to accumulate these golden shares?  The answer is a big ‘NO’, if one is relying solely on the vibrant banking story.   It is because there are several hurdles down the lane for the aspirants to tackle.  Secondly, only a selected few will emerge victorious among the many.
As is well known, the process of granting new banking licences is in motion after a long gap of 12 years.  RBI is expected to come out with final guidelines in the coming months.  But, the conditions are likely to be very rigid and hence, only a few will emerge victorious. That apart, many among the contenders may not even find the venture attractive due to limited avenues to generate quick bucks.  Above all, the entire process of granting licences might take several months.

As could be made out from the above facts, the clearer picture on the issuance of banking licences will emerge much later.  Hence, the time is not yet ripe to bank on banking licences and place the bet on those stocks.
