The Apple iTunes Store provides interactive applications and games for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch owners. The App Store features over a million applications available for download to all iOS devices with cell phone plans. Apple provides lists provides lists of their top 25 applications. These applications are the most popular and most downloaded applications in the store. Here is a list of the top five iPhone applications of 2012 (so far.)


Angry Birds Space


Angry Birds Space by Rovio Mobile Ltd is the number one application in the Apple iTunes App Store. The Angry Birds franchise revolves around throwing birds at flimsy structures in hopes of squashing the hiding pigs. When you hit all the pigs in a level, you advance to the next level. Angry Birds Space takes place in outer space where a giant claw and space pigs have stolen their eggs. Angry Birds Space is available for $0.99. Angry Birds Space features new birds with new superpowers that are different from the original games. They also have in-app purchases for getting new levels, birds and eagles.


Draw Something


Draw Something by OMG POP is a social drawing game you play with your friends and family. You and your friends take turns drawing pictures in the application and guessing what the picture is. Draw Something lets you challenge your friends on Facebook and Twitter. They integrated push notifications so you know when it’s your turn to draw. The ad-free version of Draw Something is one of the most popular applications for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Draw Something is available for $0.99. They also have a free version to try before you buy. The free version is ad-supported.


Madcoaster


Madcoaster by Chillingo Ltd is a roller coaster game where you collect coins as your rocket through each level. You have to jump from platform to platform and collect coins in the process. Madcoaster progresses in difficulty as you complete each level and environment. As you finish objectives, you get the ability to upgrade your roller coaster. Madcoaster is available from the iTunes App Store for $0.99.


Fruit Ninja


Fruit Ninja by Halfbrick Studios is an interactive game where fruits appear on the screen and you have to slice them with your sword using a slashing motion. The more fruits you slash the higher your score and the faster the fruits appear. As you slash multiple fruits with one swipe you get combo points. Fruit Ninja also integrates with the Game Center for multiplayer games and keeping track of your scores. Just be careful! Among the fruits, a bomb occasionally appears. If you accidentally slash a bomb, the game is over. Fruit Ninja is available from the iTunes App Store for $0.99.


Where’s My Water?


Where’s My Water? by Disney is a physics-based puzzle game featuring two story lines: Swampy’s Story and Cranky’s Story. Swampy’s Story features an alligator that lives in the sewers. His plumbing becomes damaged and you have to help him fix it by completing the puzzles. Cranky’s Story features an alligator name Cranky who sabotaged Swampy’s plumbing. He loves junk food but refuses to eat vegetables. Unfortunately, all his food is covered in vegetable algae. You complete the puzzles to clean off his dirty food. This fun application provides multiple brain teasers and puzzles to get your brain working. Where’s My Water? is available from the iTunes App Store for $0.99.

The iTunes App Store features many fun games and applications for use on any iPhone devices with cell phone plans. These are the top five applications of 2012 so far. We are sure there will be many more top applications as the year progresses.
